Craft Festival | The first-ever crafts festival is to take place in Hue ancient capital July 15-17, aiming to promote Vietnam’s traditional embroidery and conical hat making as a vital part of the nation’s international image.
Celebrated artisans from all over the country will partake in the three-day event demonstrating their skills of dexterity, according to organizers.
Embroidery master Trinh Bach from Ha Tay - the northern cradle of traditional embroidery - is set to undertake the restoration of costumes from a famous court dance right at the festival.
Meanwhile, craftswomen from well-known conical hat (non la) villages throughout the country are to demonstrate the complete process of traditional conical hat making, organizers added.
A fashion show, themed Vietnam’s Traditional Ao Dai and Embroidery Paintings will feature performances of Hue’s UNESCO-recognized court music, along with contemporary music.
Vietnam’s researchers, artisans and administrators will present reports at the seminar, seeking solutions for developing traditional crafts in the context of Vietnams’ integration and globalization.
