France helps modernize Vietnam railway signal system

The French Government has decided to finance €40 million (US$51 million) to modernize the traffic signal system of the railway route linking Hanoi with central Vinh city, state media reported Monday. 
The funding shares a part of $65 million project to build optical cable networks, digital switchboards, and electric facilities for 36 stations on the route

The project comes as a part of a plan to develop Vietnam's railway system by 2020.

According to the Vietnam Railway Corporation, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung has approved an agreement on the loan in accordance with the Vietnam-France Financial Protocol signed last December for the project.
